Privacy Policy

The Gold Price ("we", "us", "the Site") operates thegoldprice.net and related subdomains as an informational site about gold, silver, platinum, and palladium prices. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Data we collect
We keep data collection minimal. Specifically:
- Anonymous usage data — page views, session duration, referring source, device type, and approximate geography. Collected via server logs and aggregate analytics; not tied to a personal identifier.
- Preferences — preferred currency, unit (ounce/gram/tola/lượng), and language. Stored in a first-party cookie on your device. No account required.
- Account data (optional) — if you create a Vault account to track holdings, we store your email, a hashed password, and the portfolio entries you add. The Vault is optional; the rest of the Site works without signing up.
- Affiliate click signals — when you click an outbound affiliate link, we may log the click with a timestamp and referring page to measure traffic. We do not store your raw IP address for this purpose.
- Contact form and email — messages sent to [email protected] are kept for support purposes only.
2. Cookies
- First-party preference cookies — preserve your currency, unit, and language across visits.
- First-party session cookies — keep you signed in to the Vault.
- Third-party analytics and advertising cookies — set by Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Statcounter and Google AdSense, as described in section 3.
- Third-party cookies from outbound partners — when you click an outbound link, the destination may set its own cookies. We do not control those; see the partner's own privacy policy.
You can disable cookies in your browser. The Site will still work, but your preferences won't persist between visits, and the Vault will require you to sign in each time.
3. Analytics and third-party services
We use these third-party services to measure traffic and to fund the Site:
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregated page views, traffic sources, and session behavior. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymized interaction patterns (clicks, scroll depth, session replays) to help us improve page design. No form input, password, or financial data is captured.
- Statcounter — aggregate visitor counts and referrers.
- Google AdSense — displays advertising on the Site (details below).
- Affiliate networks — when you click an outbound affiliate link, the network may set its own cookies under its own domain.
Advertising and Google AdSense
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
You can also limit tracking by using a tracker-blocking extension or clearing cookies for this domain.
4. How we use your data
- To serve the Site and apply your preferences.
- To operate the Vault for account holders.
- To measure aggregate traffic and diagnose errors.
- To show advertising through Google AdSense, and to report anonymized performance to affiliate partners.
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties except as described above.
5. Data retention
- Server access logs: up to 30 days.
- Affiliate click records: up to 13 months.
- Vault account data: kept as long as the account is active; deleted on request.
- Contact emails: kept for the duration of the conversation plus 12 months.
6. Your rights
You can:
- Clear browser cookies to remove local preferences.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of any data we hold about you by emailing [email protected].
- Delete your Vault account at any time from your account settings.
- Opt out of analytics by enabling Do-Not-Track in your browser or installing a tracker blocker.
7. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
8. International transfers
Our infrastructure may process data in jurisdictions outside your own. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer. We apply the same protections regardless of where the data is processed.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new "Last updated" date.
